FAQ

embracevs

It has been nearly a year since Embrace opened its doors to our community. I am so very thankful for your support and kind words. I am thankful for the local veterinary clinics and all of my colleagues that help serve this valley.

This year, I hope to be better at keeping up my blog. And I wanted to start by taking a moment to address some of the most common questions I receive.

  • How far in advance should I schedule my pet’s appointment ?

    • In general, we can usually accommodate a request within 24 - 48 hours. We do try to keep day of appointments open, in case of urgent need. It is important to note, that due to the wide service area and certain times of high demand, we cannot always make a same day, or urgent visit happen. If this is the case, our voicemail and website both list the alternate options in our area for emergent pet care.

    • Due to travel time, we do try to book our Tri-cities visits on Thursdays and Fridays. This does often require a few days forward planning, which we understand can be difficult.

  • Do you see pets on weekends, holidays, or after hours?

    • We do keep some regular “after hours” appointments each week, to allow for some evening appointment availability.

    • We do not keep regular weekend hours. If available, Dr. Wicks will see weekend appointments by request. Ideally, we ask these appointments to be forward scheduled, but understand this is not always possible. It is always okay to call and check availability. If we do not answer, we will return your call at our earliest ability.

    • There may be a fee for services outside of regular business hours.

    • Our website and voicemail will both direct you to available care after hours. If your pet is having an emergency, please do not wait for us to call you back, please seek care with your regular veterinarian or local emergency clinic.

  • What is the best way to reach you?

    • Clients can reach out by phone call or text to 509-516-8144. We also check emails regularly; contact@embracevetww.com. Please note, our phone is not monitored outside of posted business hours. Voicemails and text messages will not be received until the next day.

    • Please leave a message if you have any inquiries about our services. We will only return calls that leave a message.

  • What are my aftercare options?

    • We can help with cremation services, or discuss other local options. Please call to discuss details.

  • What if I do not know if/when it is time?

    • Dr. Wicks is certified in Hospice and Palliative care. An in-home visit for a quality-of-life consult may offer a unique viewpoint or options for care of your pet. This can include ideas for at home care, ways to make life easier for your pet, or multi-modal treatment options that may not have yet been tried. These appointments generally last an hour, in which Dr. Wicks focuses on gathering information, educating the client, and discussing care options. If further care is elected, a written summary of the visit will be provided. For these visits, we do request previous veterinary records be sent to us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Is Embrace owned independently?

    • Yes! Embrace Veterinary Services is privately owned and operated. We are proud to be a local small business. Our goal is to help our community by assisting people, their pets, and to give back to local organizations that support youth and animals.

And for my favorite question, recently asked by my teenager;

  • Why do you like working as an in-home euthanasia vet?

    • The people. My patients. Truly. I am honored to be part of your lives, even if it is during the toughest of times. I accompany my clients through one of the hardest days of loving a pet. If you know me, you know we might laugh, cry, or share stories. We may also be quiet and reflective. I am open to people's beliefs, rituals, and questions. My aim for every visit is to help provide comfort, and hopefully a bit of peace, in a time of sorrow. I have the privilege of being there on a hard day for people and their pets, and that is beautiful in its own way.
